| Gallerie Amsterdam was founded by Anthony "Tony" Vanderploeg in
1995. Tony relocated to Carmel from Los Angeles where he owned
and then retired from Vanderploeg Motors. Tony is considered to the one of the
world's foremost experts on Rolls Royce and Bentley automobiles.
He has been featured on TV's "Monster Garage" and is frequently called in
as a consultant when problems arise with an errant Rolls Royce or
Bentley. Tony's interest in art began early in his native country, the Netherlands. Being home to scores of history's greatest painters, the Netherlands' art education programs begin at an early age. Tony carried this love of art into retirement and to Carmel's benefit, opened Gallerie Amsterdam. Tony continually seeks out and represents the finest national and international artists. Los Angeles' loss is Carmel's gain! Sheri Barnes has over thirty-five years in the fine art and design fields. She has owned a design studio, a photography studio, was the director of art development for children's books, and has managed fine art galleries for over 20 years. She also is a trained artist with an education in art history. With her art and design knowledge and experience, she works with gallery clients to assist them in their art selections for their homes, offices and other fine art needs. Putting all of this together, you have a beautiful gallery, a distinguished list of artists, a professional staff and all of it resides in one of the most beautiful areas in the world. Doesn't get much better than this! We hope to see you soon. |
