Known in Moscow as the "Artist’s Artist". Anatoli Belakoni began his formal studies at the Art School of 1905. He attended this prestigious art academy from 1985 to 1989. During this time he developed his love of realism and focus on historical subject matter, landscape, and children.
Although Belakoni was trained in the rigorous traditions of the old masters, he has developed his own style that not only incorporates this training but enables him to venture into the many varied styles of artists whose work has influenced his own. Artists such as Makovski, Vasiliev, Repin, and Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema.
The settings for Belakoni’s paintings are deeply rooted in the richness of the Russian culture. To look at one of his paintings, the viewer can touch the soul of Russia.
The limited availability of Belakoni’s work is due in part to the high degree of research which goes in to every painting. He does not paint more than 5 pieces every year.
