Mikhail Kryev has always known that he was to become an artist. During his youth, his family worked very long hours leaving Mikhail with a great deal of time and little to do. It was at this time, that he learned to find happiness through art.
At six years old, he was first introduced to the work of the Russian masters at the Tretyakov gallery. This first trip to the museum left quite an impression on the young Kryev. It was then that he was accepted into art school.
The training for young students consisted of reading about the history of art, visiting museums, spending time in nature, the study of classical music and naturally the study of technique. By the time Kryev turned sixteen and was accepted into the Pushkino Institute of Painting, he had already developed a strong affinity for many varying styles of work .
He was also intrigued by the work of many artists such as: Velasquez, Goya, Breugel, El Greco, Pissaro and Gaugin. It was at Pushkino that Kryev was able to further develop his skills and focus as an artist. Mikhail Kryev¹s favorite subjects are the common people.
