Iona Nemtoi is one of the most easily recognizable names in Romanian Glass Art. Member of a younger contingent of decorator artists in the post revolutionary Romania, Nemtoi has found a novel and brighter expression of the delicate medium.
A master of not only form and balance, Nemtoi uses daring combinations of color and luminosity to bring in focus and to accentuate every curve in his masterpieces.
Nemtoi takes classical shapes and transforms them into glorious monuments of modernism, defying all norms. Successfully weaving tradition and novelty, his works ingenuously satisfy the hunger for history and the need for tomorrow's reality. Each piece is an ode to color and to cultures long drowned in their own greatness.
Graduated from the Bucharest Academy of Fine Arts with a bachelor of arts degree in ceramics, glass, and metal, Nemtoi has a record of more than twenty group and individual exhibitions in his twelve years of artistic career.
His works have been shown in Austria, France, Belgium, Holland, Italy, Norway, Sweden, Germany, and Japan. Nemtoi is already starting to enter the North American scene with new collections being displayed in fine galleries in the United States and Canada.
The quality and the rich texture of his unique creations have become Nemtoi's trademark. The easily identifiable style would brighten any corner of a house and add to it a new definite distinction.
