Nestled in the beautiful seaside community of Carmel, Gallerie Amsterdam has been a fixture of the fine art community since 1995. We host many of the nation's finest painters and sculptors. Our space offers a cozy and intimate atmosphere for browsing and viewing our artwork. Our professional staff has over fifty-five years of combined experience in fine art, interior design, framing and appraisal fields. We can offer the client professional advice in every area of fine art purchase and placement. Our primary goal is for the client to feel at ease and confident with their purchases from the time they walk into the gallery until the painting or sculpture is placed in their home or office.
Gallerie Amsterdam was founded by Anthony "Tony" Vanderploeg in 1995. Tony relocated to Carmel from Los Angeles where he owned and then retired from Vanderploeg Motors. Tony is considered to the one of the world's foremost experts on Rolls Royce and Bentley automobiles.
Tony's interest in art began early in his native country, the Netherlands. Being home to scores of history's greatest painters, the Netherlands' art education programs begin at an early age. Tony carried this love of art into retirement and to Carmel's benefit, opened Gallerie Amsterdam. Putting all of this together, you have a beautiful gallery, a distinguished list of artists, a professional staff and all of it resides in one of the most beautiful areas in the world.
